“It already smells of Holidays. Hot chocolate! And with homemade Munchmallows! Mmmm… A simple recipe, that even children can make. and can use their imagination at cutting out forms from Munchmallows.”
Ingredient for Munchmallows:
200g sugar
1 bag gelatine powder (or 6 sheets)
50ml water
4 spoons cold water for gelatine
few drops of lemon extract
pinch of salt
Ingredients for hot chocolate:
1 cup milk
1 spoon corn starch
pinch of cardamom
50g chocolate
3 cubes plain chocolate
200g sugar
1 bag gelatine powder (or 6 sheets)
50ml water
4 spoons cold water for gelatine
few drops of lemon extract
pinch of salt
Ingredients for hot chocolate:
1 cup milk
1 spoon corn starch
pinch of cardamom
50g chocolate
3 cubes plain chocolate
Method:
- In a cup, mix together gelatine powder and 4 spoons of cold water. Wait 10 minutes till it swells up. If you are using gelatine sheets, soak them in more water and wait till they swell up, then squeeze them well.
- In a pan, mix sugar, 50ml water and bring to a boil. Stir till the sugar melts completely.
- Remove from the heat and let it cool down a bit, then add the gelatine and whisk till it melts. Add lemon extract and salt.
- Pour the sweet water with gelatine into a mixing bowl and mix it at the highest speed till it thickens, and becomes white and sticky.
- Spread the mixture over the baking paper. The mixture is very sticky. If you want thinner Munchmallows, spread the mixture with a knife ca. 1cm thick and if you want them bigger, spread it thicker.
- Put the mixture into a refrigerator for a few hours, to cool down and set.
- When munchmallow mass dries, it's easy to remove it from the baking paper.
- Cut out the desired shapes with cookie cutters.
- For hot chocolate, heat up milk and melt the chocolate in it. Then whisk in the corn starch. Bring everything to a boil, stirring constantly, until the hot chocolate thickens.
- Pour the hot chocolate into cups and decorate it with Munchmallows, which will immediately start to melt.
- Store the leftover Munchmallows in an airtight container in a refrigerator.
